Listed below are different positions for which DMVA is currently hiring:

Registered Nurses

At the Registered Nurse level, an employee performs as a head nurse, charge nurse, staff nurse, or an assessment coordinator providing specialized nursing care and treatment services in a commonwealth facility.

Full-time positions are available as well as PRN (pro re nata) that work “as needed” based upon shortages in daily staffing.

Applicants must possess a current (active) Pennsylvania license as a registered nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing; or possess a non-renewable temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Licensed Practical Nurses

Licensed Practical Nurses perform practical nursing work in the direct care and treatment of individuals in veterans’ homes. Full-time positions are available as well as PRN (pro re nata) that work “as needed” based upon shortages in daily staffing.

This work includes transcribing and verifying physicians’ orders; administering various medications and treatments; and assisting in administering diagnostic tests, emergency procedures, or special-treatment care. Duties also include recording physical and behavioral status of patients and other information in progress notes, patient charts, and various administrative records and reports.

Applicants must possess a current (active) Pennsylvania license as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing; OR possess a non-renewable temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Nurse Aides

Nurse Aides perform non-professional nursing work in the direct and daily care of residents and their quarters in a long term care unit. Employees assigned to these positions in a long term care unit must be registered and certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as having met the competency requirements for performing nurse aide work.
