Ways to help

Groups or organizations: When donating toward a program, groups may also volunteer to help with that program individually or as a group, such as bingo, pakeno, birthday parties/other parties, entertainment, etc.

Individual Volunteering: Individuals may assist in one or more ways including: Assisting residents during activities, escorting wheelchair residents, visiting with them or taking them outside to enjoy the fresh air. Individuals can also help by assisting the residents on shopping trips or working in the canteens.

Individuals or groups with musical ability or other types of talent are welcome to entertain our residents.

Monetary donations can be made to the HVH Welfare Fund for any of the above or to support the many different activities/functions at the home, including community or organizational outings. Donations may also be designated for a specific need such as the Holiday Fund, to ensure that each resident receives a gift at Christmas. Donations can also support the Birthday Fund, which goes to a birthday party and a birthday card to each resident during the month of his or her birthday.

Arrangements can be made for our residents to visit your organization for a party or other activities.

Other innovative ideas that you may have that would benefit our residents are welcome.

You are encouraged to contact us at (814) 696-5371 or 5571 to discuss your ideas. We appreciate you thinking of our Veterans here at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
