Veteran Service Officer Grant Program
On December 12, 2007, Senate Bill 915, PN 1436 was signed into law as Act 66 of 2007. The law established a new veterans’ service officer grant program for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Designated Veterans’ Service Organizations shall use grants received to improve the administration and delivery of services to Pennsylvania veterans. The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) administers this program through the Office of the Deputy Adjutant General for Veterans’ Affairs.
Only designated veterans’ service organizations are eligible for grants under this program. Four Pennsylvania veterans’ service organizations (the American Legion, VFW, AMVETS and DAV) are designated by law as eligible to receive grants. In addition, DMVA may designate other veterans’ service organizations to be eligible for grants provided the organization is a member of the Pennsylvania State Veterans’ Commission and an active participant in the Commission.
