Delaware Valley Veterans' Home

Philadelphia and Patriotism Go Perfect Together!

Follow the path of small American flags right up to the front door of the Delaware Valley Veterans’ Home (DVVH) and walk right into the perfect home for any veteran looking to stay connected to their military roots.

Located in northeast Philadelphia, adjacent to the 275-acre Benjamin Rush State Park and directly across the street from the PA National Guard’s Southampton Armory, DVVH showcases a patriotic theme inside and out. Yet flags, murals and displays are not the only way our residents are honored.

DVVH provides exceptional care for its residents thanks to a professional staff -- many of whom are veterans -- who proudly come to work each day excited to take care of true American heroes. Visits to the home by current service members, representatives of local veteran service organizations and even by the Philly Phanatic are very common and provide a constant reminder that our residents are thought about often throughout the Philadelphia region.

Living Here

An Active Lifestyle With All The Comforts

Residents at DVVH benefit from an active lifestyle with a daily agenda filled with organized programs like art and music therapy led by the visiting Philadelphia Arts and Education Partnerships, and military ball-themed dances. If it is leisure time our residents are looking for, they have plenty to choose from, including the camaraderie of fellow veterans playing cards and board games in the community room, and relaxing on the outdoor patio enjoying the sounds and views of nature thanks to the beautiful meadow and woodlands that border the building. When personal time is in order, our residents have easy access to an on-site canteen snack shop, library, barber shop, beautician and chapel.

Honoring Our Heroes
A Community That Offers Fun and Excitement

The fun, active lifestyle for our residents is not confined to the Delaware Valley grounds. Our residents have numerous opportunities to go on trips and explore the culture, history and entertainment throughout the historic Philadelphia area. Easy access to downtown Philadelphia allows residents to participate in field trips to patriotic attractions such as the Liberty Bell, the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Independence Hall. For residents that enjoy sports, the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, 76ers and Flyers pro sports teams are also popular destinations. Other fun excursions include trips to museums, shopping malls, movie theaters and restaurants.

I have strong friendships here. -Sam Stewart, DVVH Resident
